The Opening of the Forth Road Bridge

I'm beginning to think I will never win the battle against those question setters who think it's a good idea to ask questions that you simply have to have a guess at. But that's not going to stop me complaining about it.

If you asked in which decade the Forth Road Bridge was opened, I reckon most people in the Quiz League would answer "the 1960s"; ask them to be any more specific and most of them, I think, would struggle. (I know I would.) By giving the decade and asking for the exact year, you're reducing people's chances of getting the points. How can this be a good thing?

If you're asking about something that's intrinsically interesting, there is perhaps some justification in asking for a specific answer. But ... the opening of a bridge?
